Voice control on the iPad

iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS users have been using voice control function for handling a whole lot of tasks for quite some time already. However, Apple guys decided to spare the iPad from this function even though the built-in mic would allow providing it with no sweat. Well, this is something that the jailbreak can easily help you with!

So, what we have at our disposal is a jailbroken iPad. First, we need to install afc2add patch from Cydia this will give you full access to the device’s file system with the help of a file manager via USB.

Then we need to edit K48AP.plist file located in /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app folder. Copy it to your PC and add the following two lines into the capabilities area:

Then you send the file back into the iPad and restart it.

Press and hold Home button for 3 seconds until original Voice Control appears.

If you don’t want to go through the whole of the above mentioned algorithm, you can simply download the ready K48AP.plist file and send it into the same folder. If you need an even simpler way, install this file from Cydia, apt.alleon.name rep, voicecontrolipad patch.
