Transform Your iTune’s Digital Booklets Into iBooks

21 Jun 2010 | Advice |

For those of you who are not certain what iTunes Digital Booklets are, they are the PDF files which accompany some iTunes albums. Up until now they haven’t been of much use, as all you could do with them is view them on your computer or compile a smart playlist from them.

On Monday, 21st June, this will change, as you will be able to load them onto an iOS 4- capable iPhone or iPod touch. To enable this, you will need iTunes 9.2, iOS4 and iBooks 1-1; note that iBooks cannot support earlier models of the iPhone or iPod touch. Apple has released an article which explains how to do this, and in the information it gives it mentions that you can also load them onto your iPad, although the iPad won’t have the iOS 4 until autumn 2010.

If you wish to add an iTunes Digital Booklet to an appropriate mobile device, firstly, change the Media Kind of the file to Book, which is located in the Options tab of the info pane. This will put the booklet into the iTunes’Books library and from this you will be able to sync to the iBooks library of your device.

You should note that iTunes LD and iTunes Extra are not (yet) compatible with the iPhone, iPad or iPad touch, so cannot be accessed while you are on the move.
