Since that time I bought my first iPad, I have wondered when I would be able to use it as remote control, ‘cause it seems to be a natural function. I think I’m not the only person who has always wanted to control the TV with a help of iPad or iPhone, and today it is really possible thanks to the new product of Griffin’s company, the Griffin Beacon.
A wireless audio-video controller, Beacon, connects to iPad, iPhone or iPod through the Bluetooth, and after that turns your iDevice into a universal remote control that is very easy to use, and which you can use along with your entire home entertainment system. In essence, the Beacon will transform the signals from Bluetooth out of your iDevice into infra-red signals that TVs as well as other entertainment systems can read.
The Griffin Beacon combines seamlessly with an application made by Dijit, who Griffin joined with to produce the required software. The director of Product Development at Griffin, Matt Brown, said “Beacon puts control of the home theater right at your fingertips”. “Thanks to our hardware and Dijit’s App integration, we have developed a powerful, pocket-sized tool that really customizes and makes the entertainment experience at home simpler”.
People with Beacon are able to use completely new, updated technology that enables you to look for and see all of the entertainment information right at your fingertips, rather than using remotes that haven’t been updated since the 1980’s. You can easily input volume, program the DVR, change channels and even more. Moreover, it is possible to program the Beacon and Dijit app to control the TV, media player, sound system, cable box and a lot more, all at the same time. Forget about fumbling through several remote controls trying to decide which one you need.
As you can imagine, the Beacon is not cheap. You can buy it for $79.99 at App Store as well as on the Griffin Website, which is certainly more than a regular remote cost. But nevertheless, this is a fantastic product for those who want to control everything at home.
