Sony is known for producing music from brilliant singers like the Backstreet Boys, Usher, Christina Aguilera, and Avril Lavigne to mention a few, but these great artists will soon be gone from the iTunes.
According to reports, Sony is planning to abandon iTunes taking the music of iTunes users’ favorite artists with its sweet adieu. While other developers are eager to provide contents for the Apple’s store, Sony is said to have sent manifestations of its departure from the site. The company is also believed to have plans in withdrawing its games for the iPhone.
The departure of Sony from the iTunes can mean war between Apple and the company.
According to rumors, Sony is planning to establish its own website with the purpose of competing with Apple’s iTunes. The company has launched Music Unlimited which can be considered an iTune competitor in September 2010.
If the rumors are true, Apple can expect a tough competition since, according to reports, Sony will soon release Music Unlimited in Australia. Its website offers music streaming of the company’s best artists.
According to Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Michael Ephraim, Apple is currently holding the publishers on the neck and these publishers are looking for an alternative. Sony is currently targeting other devices that will support streaming of its tracks. It currently works with PlayStation 3, Sony 2010 HDTVs, and blu-ray players.
Will we miss music by Avril Lavigne as her latest song What the Hell is in the Top 10 of the best singles on the iTunes right now? Or will we just have to use a couple of sites to download the best music (by Sony also) on our iPad?
