Netflix CEO Says Apple TV is More Important

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings does not consider the iPad  and Apple TV a threat to his company saying that TVs connected to the internet can be more important that NetFlix moving forward.

NetFlix has turned its DVD rental company into an online video subscription service: something that users accepted with open arms. The company confirmed that a lot of customers are signing up for a contract since the revolution of its service has been introduced. This can be the reason why the company is not seeing the iPad and Apple TV a threat to its business.

In an interview Netflix CEO Reed Hastings even released a statement saying apple TV and other TVs connected to the internet is very important, even more important than NetFlix because TV plays a main role in playing videos. Most of the users prefer to play videos over music that can be played through mobile phones.

According to Hastings, more Web TV apps will be available in the app stores in the coming years. He said that tablet PCs like that iDevice is not a big deal for the company, but they need internet-connected TVs like Apple TV for their services.

NetFlix has been updating its apps for the iPad and iPhone, introducing new features every week. According to the company, data shows that users spend more time with Apple TV than the ever popular iTablet.

Apple released the second generation apple TV in 2010 with the capability to directly let users run contents in the big screen. iOS device users on the other hand need to use a separate app that can be downloaded in the Apple Store to play NetFlix contents on their iDevice. This explains why apple TV is more important that the iPad when it comes to NetFlix services as what has been earlier stated by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
