The demand for Asian electronic components such as the 3D televisions, iPad, tablet computers and iPhone 4 smartphones has hit the market by a storm. For instance after the launch of iPad in US about 3 million gadgets were sold in a span of only 80 days and on average after about 2 seconds there is an individual seeking to purchase the gadget. Due to this trend Asian firms are struggling to get the electronic components although the electronic gadget producers insist that they are not facing serious delays.
According to isupply, a research firm that mainly focuses on electronic companies, the global demand for high-tech products has rapidly increased especially with the production of anticipated electronic gadgets. Speaking from anonymity an official from Wintek Company, a touchscreen producer, said that they have been forced to increase their supplies way above their expectations. Wintek serves a host of customers from various countries including South Korea, Finland and US.
Reports released by the Industrial Technology Research Institute show an outstanding global demand for tablet computers and smartphones especially during the seasonal holidays. Being the second largest computer micro-chip producer, Hynix Semiconductor computer has had to increase its capital outflow to be able to beat the stiff demand. The world’s largest computer micro-chip maker has also not been left unturned. Samsung electronics has also increased its capital to satisfy the rapid global demand.
These companies are working at full capacities yet some of their outlets do not have enough stock. They are regularly running dry due to the spiked demand. In fact Samsung Electronics has only managed to satisfy only about 70% of the global demand for memory chips. Samsung Electronics is also facing touchscreen mobile phones and 3D television shortage as it only meets 80% of its total demands. To out beat this trend the Asian firms have embarked on expansion plans to enable them increase their production and thus fully satisfy the growing demand
