AT&T is one of the first US operators hitting the market with a new tablet app. Recently the company has announced U-Verse app for Apple iPhone that is available free of charge. With its help, you get high functionality of DVR, a possibility of downloading the content and connection via Wi-Fi.

Another operator called Comcast is preparing a new application for the iPad that will be free. It is going to appear at the end of 2010 and feature similar functionality. DirectTV, Cablevision and Time Warner are also developing applications for the iPad providing subscribers with the possibility of watching TV at home or while traveling.

While all the other operators are working under the applications for iPads, the parent company of Verizon Wireless, Verizon Communications, is developing apps on Android for its tablet offering. But a well-known company Verizon together with Motorola is moving much further developing an Android tablet compatible with its FiOS TV service. It is said that the tablet will sport a 10-inch display, an NVIDIA Tegra2 processor and work on Android 3.0 Gingerbread.

Other cable operators are moving slowly towards subscription TV and signing content deals, but Netflix and Hulu are doing quite well in the mobile arena. Netflix has an app for the iPad offering a streaming access to a great number of TV shows and movies from the expansive library of Netflix. Recently Hulu has announced Hulu Plus, a premium subscription service, featuring an app for the iPad for video and movie consumption on the go.

Right now we can’t foresee what services will reach the top, so let’s enjoy the information available in the net concerning our tablet devices hitting the market quite soon.
