The bigger display and attractive 3G data plans for the iPad from AT&T gives iPad some benefits, and still the OS this tablet uses is the same as the iPhone’s. And this is the big problem.

The same OS, and no phone or camera. Does it really cost extra $400? This question is for iPad users, but as long as people buy this device, it’s probably worth it. Besides this, by now there are a lot of iPad-sized games and applications so users can really enjoy a better resolution and quality on a larger screen.

As you might know, the iPad iOS 3.2.1 that the iPad is currently running isn’t able to support multitasking. It cannot run background processes, so you are not able to watch a video while chatting with your friends. You can’t listen to the radio and read a newspaper on your iPad at the same time, etc.

iPad’s iOS 3.2 cannot support Adobe Flash, and this is a big problem, because iPad users cannot watch Flash videos and are mostly locked to YouTube source. Besides, you cannot open many great web sites if they are flash sites. To watch a movie, iPad users should convert it into HTML5 format. And there are not many sites with HTML5 films available for download.

By the way, iOS 3.2 is a unique operating system that is adapted for iPad use only! iPhone and iPod touch users cannot get this software upgrade.

This firmware should support video calling and conferencing.

This OS has many interesting features. It supports file downloading and local storage. It should also support SMS, handwriting and a spellchecker option.

The new iPhone OS 4 is only about to come to the iPad this fall. For now the only things revealed about this upgrade include:

  • third-party apps multitasking
  • tentpoles
  • application folders
  • game center
  • iAd

Hopefully, multitasking that will eventually come to the iPad won’t kill battery power in no time. Apple seems to find a solution to this problem, as Steve Jobs said during the WWDC in June. But how exactly Apple nailed it, nobody knows except for Mr. Jobs.

All we are left to do is to wait till fall or longer?
