Now all lawyers and prosecutors might be free from the burden of carrying and presenting piles of documents as evidence during hearings. They can free the space on the tablets with the presence of the new Apple iPad that might be now allowed in court.

This tablet is a good device for web browsing and document checks.

Some court workers are already enjoying the benefits of the iPad. This month attorney from Seoul Kim Sang-soon changed the rules and took his Apple’s tablet to a trial. He is the first lawyer who used an iPad in an official judicial procedure, instead of bringing piles of paper.

Kim says that laptops couldn’t replace documents because of their weight and slow speed. However the iPad can change it. It is easy to use and doesn’t weight a lot, Kim assures. It’s booting speed is ok.

A large number of lawyers might start using this device in court. And even though the tablet isn’t officially launched in South Korea, some people got a chance to buy it overseas like Kim did.

How can be the iPad useful for lawyers? Kim, for example, uses his tablet not only as a replacement for the heavy documents. He can also search on the move for the materials he needs when delving into lawsuits.

Just think about it. Before this, Kim sometimes used a cart to move all his documents needed for administrative lawsuits. And how one gadget can replace the whole cart! Besides this, Korean government is ok with its citizens using high-tech devices.

Most courts don’t allow taking pictures or doing video recordings. That is why some critics say that it might be impossible to introduce the iPad to the court. So if the devices will be equipped with photo cameras and ability to record video, they won’t be allowed, that’s for sure, according to one Seoul’s law professor.
