iPad is Creating Authors

Apple iPad, being the most successful consumer device, has many advantages ranging from applications to in-flight entertainment systems but something like being an author is totally out of the chart. In the mouse run to win over Google & Amazon, Apple has included this facility too in their iPad that anyone in the US can write and publish book online that can be downloaded via paid subscription in the iPad giving the revenue to that author.

Google is planning to release their service of Google Editions’ late this summer and Amazon has similar facilities, which Apple trying to suppress with their universal tool of customer solution – the iPad.

The facility involved with publishing books for iPad is that everyone the author has to do won’t require any amount of money and the potential market is literally endless for already millions of unit being sold only in USA and greater numbers are predicted to be sold in the UK soon enough. So the author won’t have to wait for his written book to be sold for a long period of time as he had to do regarding any hard copy editions.

The process of writing and publishing any book for the iPad involves some steps and when they are followed, soon the book can be seen being sold in the Apple bookstore which has sold over 1.5 millions of books in the first month in USA alone.

First the writer has to write book in iWork or similar word application to encode the book in Apple readable format, A MAC Operating System which is running with version 10.5 or higher is essential for that purpose, the books must be submitted online in the apple special UPUB format after passing the EPUB Check 1.0.5 quality & grammar test. To submit for publishing, the author must have a valid US Tax ID and a running iTunes Account where the books will be proofed before publishing. Authors will also have to secure themselves a 13 digit ISBN number via application to the authority before their books comes into Apple iBook Store.

The process is not as much hassling as it sounds, all it needs to follow proper and easy steps then viola! The eBook starts selling. Apple hasn’t confirmed the percentage of sales revenue authors will get from their book sell but the predicted is 70% as Apple gives that much to the application developers and game publishers.

This facility is just announced and only valid for the US citizens as for now, will require a valid US Tax ID too for publishing but pretty soon coming to the UK as announced by the Apple after watching the response and result from this innovative facility in the USA provided by them.

This is a great opportunity to the US writers to publish their books without running with hard copies, everything can be done from home and that is also without paying a cent for the publication, printing & advertisement so predicted to be much popular in the days to come.
