Canalys released a data Thursday, proving how Apple is selling the itablet for the first quarter of 2011. Data shows that the company gained 8.5 million sales combined for the iPad and Mac for the said quarter. The huge number of shipment put the company into the fourth spot among the top five tablet PC sellers worldwide.
Sales from apple is said to be 9.5 percent on the world market, and represented a very large yearly increase of up to 187.9 percent because of the iPad.
The tablet PC from Apple maintained its dominance in the tablet PC market despite of the fact that Apple claimed to have decreased its sales 4.69 million units of the iDevice for the last quarter because of production issues. The demand of the second-gen iTablet is a bit hard for the producing company to handle. Still the iTablet garnered 74 percent of all the devices shipped by the Cupertino Company.
Meanwhile, Canalys confirmed that the impact of the iPad 2 is still hard to determine since the iDevice was released at the later period of the quarter and its stocks is also limited. The firm added that given quarters should be finished before an accurate data can be determined.
According to Canalys Analyst Tim Coulling, the continuous competition of the iTablet and the competitors is expected to increase the sales of the device worldwide. “Taking into consideration the iPad’s ‘halo effect’ on the company’s other products, Apple has grown considerably in most markets worldwide,” Coulling said.
The combined sales of the iTablet and Mac left Lenovo who said to have 17 percent increase in a year, trailing on the fifth spot.
Dell is on the third spot which shipped 20 million units. The company’s PC business is said to have increased 2.8 percent in a year, with 11.3 percent increase in global PC shipments.
HP on the other is on the first spot with 14.7 million units sold taking 16.6 percent shares in the market. Acer follows on the second spot with 11.3 million PCs shipped globally, showing an 12.8 percent share in the market.
