A helicopter called AR.Drone that is capable of sending videos to its controlling iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch will be released in the US in September. The good news was announced by France-based Parrot at the E3 game expo in Los Angeles.

The helicopter is said to possess four fans giving it the capability to fly in any direction. It sends videos using the camera that is attached at the back and bottom back of the device. The phone needs to have the software that has the control to increase and decrease the height traveled by the toy. Bending the phone controls that movement of the helicopter.

The device will be compatible with Apple devices, but the plan of making it available to other platforms will follow.

Founder of Parrot Henri Seydoux, said in an interview that the platform was not made available for the Android since it’s not available when the device was built five years ago.

The AR.Drone which costs $299 targets children and gamers, with its easy to fly and easy to operate features. Parrot brags on the AR.Drone’s strong body that is made of high grade plastic and carbon fiber. The toy can be repaired with its available parts sold between $5 and $40.

Meanwhile Parrot announces the release of additional games: AR.Dronegate and AR.FlyingAce which will be available in the App Store for $2.99 each.

Seydoux hopes that the targeted market will bite the release of the AR.Drone, and that the toy will sell well.
