How Users Will Like Netflix Interface Changes

11 Mar 2011 | News |

In an attempt to promote online movie streaming, Netflix has recently removed the add to DVD queue option from streaming devices like the iPad, iPhone, Apple TV and others.

In January, Netflix has disappointed few subscribers by removing the add to DVD queue on all streaming capable devices with the intention of encouraging people to use the movie streaming feature in the internet, and forget the old-fashioned way of viewing movies through  physical DVD players or converters.

While others are disappointed, the changes in Netflix’s interface may not be that bad for the iPad users. The removal of the physical DVD rental option from the interface made the interface of the tablet users more organize and user-friendly.

Netflix Made Interface Changes

The updated Netflix interface is made simple with four categories: Home, Genres, Search, and Instant Queue. If you still prefer to use the physical DVD rental option, there will be no sweat since you can go to the Netflix website using your iPad browser.

The four categories will give you the option to easily find the movies you want. You can also search from the list of most-viewed movies, new releases, and Netflix recommended movies. The new interface includes pictures for each movie or TV show title. Clicking on the photo will start the video that you want to play.

The new interface also includes description for each movie, rating from viewers, the year the movie was released, and how long the movie will last. This makes finding movies that are available for streaming, easier.

However, there are changes that are not favourable for some users like the removal of the title review which is very useful when you are looking for a great movie you can watch. The user needs to exert another effort of going to the Netflix website to access the review of a particular movie.

It’s clear that Netflix is changing its interface for improved movie viewing with the anticipation that competitors will soon venture on the business. However, it needs to be fast enough to widen the choices of movies available in the Netflix streaming library. The company should also make considerations when it comes to pricing.
