iPad Spirit Jailbreak for Windows

This is a detailed tutorial on how you can perform an untethered jailbreak of your iPad with Spirit for Windows.

In order to successfully finish this iPad jailbreak process, you need to use an activated device that is not trapped on the Emergency Call screen or Connect to iTunes.

You can use any version of iTunes (from 9 to 9.1.1)

Step # 1

You need to download Spirit following this link and save the zip file to your desktop.

Step # 2

Launch the Spirit app by double clicking it.

*Attention: In case you use Windows 7 you probably should run Spirit in compatibility mode for Windows 98. To do so, right click Spirit.exe and choose Properties from the menu. When you see the Compatibility tab press Windows 98. Press Apply and then Ok.

Step # 3

Connect the iPad to your PC and click Jailbreak.

Step # 4

Now the Spirit application will make everything for you letting you know when the jailbreak process is complete.

Let your device reboot. When this is done, the iPad will be jailbroken. You’ll have Cydia installed on it.

    When trying to download SPIRIT for the windows jailbreak for my ipad, an error msg appears that says I have the wrong version of itunes. I have the most recent version of itunes which is 10.1.1.4 (I just bought my ipad las week and made sure I had the most recent version of itunes). The fix you have listed says that SPIRIT will run with any version of itunes. This does not appear to be the case. I am a novice at this type of stuff, but hate to call tech support, so am trying to figure it out as best I can. Do you have a more recent of SPIRIT that I need to run for my ipad 4.2.1?

    I am not a game player, I simply need to be able to view all my email and do web searchs and open flash player files.

    Spirit jailbreak tool works only with iPad iOS 3.2 version, which was default factory iOS for iPad. Now you are on iOS 4.2.1 which is the finall one and you should use Redsn0w 0.9.6 to jailbreak you device and install flash on iPad.

    Thanks Andrew. Ok I will try that I guess. However I noticed that the advice on your website basicaly said the current version was more for the tech saavy and I certainly am not. :-) Would you recommend I wait until they publish the final version? Do you expect that to be out soon?

    I advice you to wait for new version of Redsn0w, that’s supposed to be release after new iOS 4.3 will go public (first weeks of February)
