With the new iPad Apple had to adjust its official iTunes store for 3 kinds of applications. You can now view apps that are created specifically for your iPad, applications made for the iPhone or hybrid mixes that are optimized for the iPad and iPhone.

If you are able to browse just iPad apps in the iTunes store, you can’t do the same in the rest of iTunes. It is just ignorant of such features. If you go to Apps view you will see all downloaded applications. When you connect the iPad, there will be no way to differentiate just the iPad applications.

You can solve this little problem. We’ll tell you how you can do this.

Ferreting out the iPad apps:

  • Don’t connect the device, and go to iTunes’ sidebar to select the Apps item
  • Select View (this will show you all applications you have downloaded in a sortable text list)
  • Choose View options (you will see the box next to Kind, you need to enable it by checking the box – the Kind column will appear in your sortable text list)
  • Click the Kind column, and all applications will be sorted by their type

The problem with this method is that your will have two types of iPad-optimized applications, seeing iPhone and iPod touch apps between them.

Another method of ferreting out the iPad apps:

  • Go to View
  • Select View (Grid View)
  • Go to Apps, and you will see downloaded applications as a graphic sorted by the type

Once again, there will be 2 types of iPad applications, and you will have iPod touch and iPhone apps between them.

Yes, we know that both methods won’t help you to decide which iPad-optimized apps to sync to your tablet. But you will be able to check how many of your applications can satisfy your Apple’s device large screen.

The iTunes will surely be updated fixing this error.
