How to Attend Meetings on iPad

24 Sep 2010 | Free iPad Apps |

When the iPad was first launched in April, it quickly became a popular device for reading electoric books, watching videos and playing games. But as months have passed, its popularity has grown drastically as well as its functions.

The iPad has now become a business partner as businessmen are using it for online meetings, taking the advantage of its large screen and using presentations, microphone and speakers for VoIP-based discussions and conferences.

There are many applications that can help you to attend meetings on the iPad. But we’ll talk about the 4 most popular ones.

1. GoToMeeting: Is the earliest popular free Web conferencing app that hit the iPad. This app is known for being user friendly and easy-to-use. It just requires the user to enter the meeting ID and his name to join it. He can view the presenter’s screen, hear the conversation and share his ideas via the iPad’s headseat and microphone.

This app will give you the power to literally hold a conference in your hands which is really cool. What is lacking in this application is the capability to organize a meeting or take over the place of the meeting presenter. The user needs to do this from the GoToMeeting desktop interface.

2. WebEx: This free application is similar to GoToMeeting. It also allows you participating in a conference via Apple’s tablet and viewing the presenter’s screen. This app also can’t enable the hosting of a meeting through the iPad. It needs to be done from a Web browser on the desktop. The coolest feature that this app can offer you is the ability to join a demo meeting with real live strangers.

3. Skype for iPad: This can be the simplest free app among the applications, but if the meeting board has already set up Skype on the desktop for chat-based meetings, then it will work for you. Sadly, it won’t allow you talking via video chat since the iPad doesn’t support this function yet.

4. Fuze Meeting: This is currently the newest and the most feature-rich iPad meeting app that is 100% free. It lets you initiate and host a conference from your Apple pad without a desktop browser. This app makes WebEx and GoToMeeting inferior. Fuze Meeting works with Keynote presentations and supports instant messaging. It also offers Dropbox for access to files that are hosted remotely.

It’s up to you which applications to choose in order to hold an online conference or important meeting using your iPad. Try new things, carry on experiments and succeed in your business life!
