Google is set to release the Android OS which gathered questions from experts. Will there be a possible development of Chrome OS for tablets, or will the company continue to concentrate on netbooks and PCs?
In a Google press conference in San Francisco, the company revealed more details about the coming Google Chrome OS.
Google has even launched a pilot program that enables users to test devices that will be released in the US starting mid-2011.
The press conference revealed that Google was currently concentrating on the development of OS for devices with keyboards.
Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt said Chrome is an OS that is specifically developed for devices with keyboards, while Android is intended for mobile devices with touch-screen.
This can mean that Google is not planning to invade the tablet PC market yet, which can be music to the ears of Steve Jobs.
Moreover, many have raised questions why Google had to let two of its Operating Systems compete in the market: this is referring to Android and Chrome.
Unlike Apple, Google’s operating systems are not compatible with each other, and each OS used a completely distinct code. So far the company is separately working for both OS, and so far both gained success in their respective markets.
As of the moment, Apple probably is anticipating for the release Chrome OS based tablets that can compete and challenge the iPad in its reign in the tablet PC market. On the other hand, Apple can use the OS fragmentation of Google for its advantage.
