Many people are of the opinion that iPads and smartphones are the future of computing, thus desktops and laptops may lose their significance. They feel that portable computing is the future and gradually the time has come for laptops and desktops get packed off. But experts feel that it is not possible for a single device to give all the solutions needed by all the consumers. Demand will vary a great as it is separate for a home consumer and a corporate boss.
It may so happen that a home user may still prefer a desktop in the long run. On the other hand, a corporate executive, who is always on the go, may prefer a mobile computer and go for an iPad as he will get all the features of a computer in his hand.
Though small screens and tiny typing interfaces are the biggest obstruction to mobile computing, scientists are telling that a day will come when they eliminate the mouse and the computer keyboard.
Since the price of all the technical gadgets including the desktop, iPad and laptop is decreasing it may so happen that a particular person may think of having more than one gadget. Though people say that younger generation are more inclined to social networking through Facebook, they prefer to use tablet computers more. But at the same time, they need desktop or laptops to complete their school home work. It has been observed that older consumers prefer using desktops in their home.
But corporate users prefer investing on latest technology and that’s the reason, they prefer buying latest versions of iPads and voice connectivity, etc. But that is not going to take out the importance of desktops and laptops from the market.
