Apple to Improve Notification System for iOS

17 Feb 2011 | News |

Apple is now on its way of improving the notification system for iOS, and will hand-pick a small app developer to materialize this plan, according to the new rumors floating the web.

Many iPad and other iDevice users are currently complaining about the pop up notifications of the current iOS for incoming text messages and voicemails, seeing the current system as weak and messy. The new notification system is said to be intrusive, modal and often cryptic, analysts predict.

On other hand, there’s webOS banner notification system from HP/Palm that is loved for its easy to use and user-friendly functionality. It appears to be even more improved based on its presentation that was held last week.

The reliable source who refused to be identified confirms Apple’s plan to acquire an app developer company that will help them move on with the rumored change of the current notification system for their iOS.

The change for iPhone notification system was expected to happen last year after Apple pirated the chief architect of Palm’s system, Rich Dellinger, but the plan was not carried on. The name of the company that will soon collaborate with Apple has not been identified, but Boxcar appears to be the most possible choice.

Boxcar from App Remix is a free application that is currently praised for its superb performance. The app that is responsible for sending notifications from social media like Facebook, Twitter, and even email, works perfectly on its iPad version.

Analysts are also not yet certain on how the acquisition of the new company will contribute to the improvement of the current notification system for iOS.

But let’s hope for the best, that the company will free us from its pop up notification messages that appear on iPad’s screen while we are playing games, reading news or going through email.
