Apple Sues Samsung Galaxy S Phone and Tab for Patent Violation

According to a report posted in redmondpie.com, Apple claimed that Samsung violated copyright laws with how its lines of products are created.  The success of the Cupertino Company with its iOS devices especially the iPad has made the competitors jealous, and the lawsuit can be the company’s move to maintain its dominance in the market.

Apple has complained that Samsung has violated several patents exclusively assigned by the US PTO to the company.

In addition to the company’s claims of patent infringement, Apple is particular with the looks of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and S Phones saying they are patterned after the appearance of the iPad and the iPhone. The company claimed it’s a violation of “trade dress”.

The content of the lawsuit filed by Apple includes the complaint that goes like, The Galaxy Tab has its design taken from the iPad from the aspect ratio, rectangular shape, rounded corners and similar black border, almost everything has been influenced from Apple’s iPad. Since the Galaxy Tab is made to cater almost the same market users who prefer using Android as an OS, I think Samsung did get influenced but “copied” is a little too harsh a word. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab computer tablet also slavishly copies a combination of several elements of the Apple Product Configuration Trade Dress.

The company is expecting for a restraining order against Samsung that is currently a major global supplier of smartphones. The company also added that it does not believe that Samsung’s latest products are built with the looks similar to the iPad’s and the iPhone’s by coincidence.

Meanwhile, some analysts and commentators are raising eyebrows saying why Apple has filed the lawsuit recently when Samsung’s line of business has been circulating in the market for some time.
