Apple’s iPad Held 82% Of U.S. Tablet Marketplace; The Daily Has $10M Loss

According to a new research of the U.S. tablet users, it was found that 82% of consumers have Apple’s iPad. Besides that, the greatly discussed The Daily newspaper, which was created only for iTablet, produced 800,000 downloads and lost $10 million during three months.
The Nielsen company, that made a research in April, found that the iPad owns 82% share of the market of tablets around the USA. Almost 43% of people interviewed said they have the 3G connected iPad, when 39% mentioned they use the Wi-Fi-only type.
Samsung Galaxy Tab, that has 4% market share, is another nearest competitor. 3% of answerers owned Samsung Galaxy Tab, and the Motorola Xoom was 2% of those interviewed.
The market research also showed that about 50% of all tablet holders are the only ones in their home that work with the tablet, when 43% use the device together with other people. After buying a tablet, about 35% of interviewed people said that they don’t use it very often or just don’t use it at all. And 32% of laptop owners mentioned that they work with that computer not very much.
The opinion poll showed that tablets have an impact on the employment of electronic-readers, because 27% of answerers who have an electronic-reader said they work with it not really often or don’t employ it at all. Exactly the same number of people use portable media players, however 25% who buy portable video games said they utilize those devices more infrequently.
Another Nielsen research, that was made earlier, found that women have a preference for Apple’s iPhone, when men have a tendency to wish a Google Android phone as their future smartphone. And it was also found that iPhone owners definitely download the maximum applications of any phone users.
The Daily has $10M in first quarter
The paidContent.org reported that a popular newspaper The Daily, which was created as an application for iDevice, and was the first to include membership billing, has a loss about $10 million in three months of functioning. A large number of those losses are said to be a result of funding expenses related to beginning the process.
News Corp president Chase Carey told that it is really the most downloaded news application. It is just a work in progress and they are improving the content and proving the system.
The Daily was first showed at the beginning of February for the iTablet. It is actually offered only for iPad, but News Corp. intends to take it to many other tablet devices someday.
