Android will Have Cydia-Style App Store

When iPad and iPhone users can have Cydia, should Android be left far behind? Soon Android will have Cydia-style app store. So for Android clients who get their device rooted and are always on the search for new and progressive apps, nice thing about it may be round the corner!

If Koushik Dutta, the mind behind CyanogenMod firmware that has created CyanogenMod is to be thought, root apps for Android may soon be obtainable at a one-stop Cydia- style app store for Android. Dutta has mooted the concept on his Google+ page.

His statement has set the ball rolling and discovered resonating voices of help and rumours among many who feel that use of apps must be more open, and providers shouldn’t control and thus dictate use of apps on the OS worked phones or other devices.

Android users have a clear advantage over iOS users because of the fact that Android has an open source OS. Although there is no authorization process to get in, the Android OS enables users to look beyond standard functions and apps provided by producers and load applications submitted by anyone.

In contrast, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch users can get apps from the Apple app Store only unless they elect to jailbreak the iOS. In this sense, a rooted Android from Cydia-style app store for Android device is amazingly close to a jailbroken iPhone.

The idea of a root Cydia- style App Store for Android users sounds fascinating, similar to Cydia app for iOS. Of course, you should have a rooted Android device to install root apps.

If CyanogenMod takes the primary dive for Android and sets up a Cydia-style app store for Android, apps like emulators, one-click root apps, under-the-counter music services which have been shunted or shut down because of disapproval of the carrier or other organizations will bounce back.

While much remains to be done for the application store to come through, we are definitely looking at a higher-level of customization for Android devices like such Cydia-style app store for Android.
