Opening files in Flash format on the iOS devices like the iPad and iPhone is a problem that all users have been experiencing for a long time. Adobe hopefully fixes the problem with “Wallaby”. This is an app that will allow Flash on the iOS devices.
According to Adobe, ”This allows you to reuse and extend the reach of your content to devices that do not support the Flash runtimes.”
Wallaby app works by converting Flash files to HTML5 format. The converted file can be edited manually or by using HTML editing tool. Users can view the converted file on their Safari browser. This fantastic program is an “experimental technology” which is still under review by the genius developers. It is not a final version because they still testing this amazing and innovating iPad application.
Meanwhile, Adobe emphasizes that there are files that are not supported by HTML5 format like ActionScript, streaming sound,3D transforms, external or embedded video.
HTML5 format supports FrameSets, font embedding, scenes, images, and layers.
Adobe noted that Wallaby works great with Apple’s iOS 4.2 since previousiOS faces issues when playing Flash files because of bugs in Safari.
The souring relationship of Apple and Adobe started last year when Steve Jobs called Flash as unfit for modern touch-screen devices like the iPad and iPhone. Apple also stopped sending Macs with Flash preinstalled, in which according to the company is intended to push users to utilize the latest version of the software.
Further testing also shows that without Flash, the battery life of the new MacBook Air is extended for two hours.
Apple promoted HTML5 standard on its mobile devices to replace Flash, but Flash is a main feature of the latest models of Motorola Zoom however, earlier released models don’t support plugins from Adobe.
